How to Check Flight Status and Rebook

Overview

Flight schedules can change for many reasons, including weather, air traffic control restrictions, or operational events. Knowing how to check your flight status in real time and how to rebook quickly if something changes helps you stay in control of your journey. This guide walks you through the channels we offer for live status updates, what information you need, how rebooking works end to end, and the differences between airline-initiated changes and voluntary changes.

Available Channels

You can check your flight status or start a rebooking through any of the following channels:

  • Mobile App -Real-time status, gate and terminal information, push notifications, and one-tap rebooking for eligible disruptions.
  • Website -Full self-service flight status lookup by booking reference, flight number, or route and date.
  • Airport Self-Service Kiosks -Available at most major airports including Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) for quick status checks and rebooking when the system permits.
  • Service Desk -Visit our service desk at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) or any airport we operate from. Our agents can rebook across partner airlines when necessary.
  • Phone -Call our contact centre to speak with a live agent. Hours: 24/7 operations.

What You Will Need

To look up your flight or rebook efficiently, have the following ready:

  • Your booking reference (also known as a PNR or record locator) or e-ticket number.
  • Your flight number and date of travel.
  • Government-issued photo ID for identity verification when speaking to an agent.
  • Your loyalty program number if you want the new itinerary matched to your profile.

Rebooking Process

When a change is required, the rebooking flow follows these steps:

  1. Locate your booking -Enter your booking reference in the app or website, or provide it to an agent.
  2. Review available alternatives -The system will display eligible flights, including same-day, next-day, and partner airline options where applicable.
  3. Select a new itinerary -Choose the option that best fits your plans. Seat, class of service, and connection time are all displayed.
  4. Confirm the change -If there is no fare difference, the update is immediate. If a difference applies, you will see it before confirming.
  5. Receive your updated documents -An updated itinerary and boarding passes are issued via email, SMS, and the app.

Airline-Initiated vs Voluntary Changes

It is important to understand the distinction between the two:

  • Airline-initiated changes -When we cancel, significantly delay, or reschedule a flight, you are entitled to be rebooked on the next available flight at no cost. Refunds and alternative routing may also be available depending on the nature of the disruption.
  • Voluntary changes -If you wish to change your plans for personal reasons, a change fee and any fare difference may apply. The amount depends on your fare class and the timing of your request. Some flexible fare classes allow free changes within defined windows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How early should I check my flight status before heading to the airport?

We recommend checking within 2 hours of departure, and enabling push notifications in the app so you are alerted immediately if anything changes.

Q: Can I rebook onto a partner airline?

In most airline-initiated disruption scenarios, yes. Our agents can rebook you onto one of our partner carriers when it offers a better outcome for your journey.

Q: What if there are no acceptable alternatives on my travel day?

If no suitable option is available on the same day, you may be entitled to overnight accommodation, meal vouchers, and ground transportation depending on the cause of the disruption. Our agents will outline your options.

Q: Will my seat selection carry over to the new flight?

We will match equivalent seats where possible. If your preferred seat type is not available, you can reselect from the current seat map.

Important Information

Your rights as a passenger, including rebooking, compensation and assistance entitlements, are protected under DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) and enforced by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
