How to Request a Ticket Refund
Overview
Refunds are available on eligible tickets when flights are cancelled, significantly delayed, or when you choose not to travel following an airline-initiated change. The exact amount and form of the refund depend on your fare rules, the cause of the change, and how the ticket was paid for. This guide walks through the eligibility rules, the submission process, typical timelines, and what to do if you would like a travel credit instead of a cash refund.
Eligibility
Refund eligibility falls into three broad categories:
- Airline-initiated changes -If we cancel your flight or make a significant schedule change, and you choose not to travel on the new itinerary, you are entitled to a full refund to the original form of payment.
- Voluntary cancellation -Refundability depends on your fare class. Flexible fares are typically fully refundable. Discounted or promotional fares may be non-refundable or subject to a cancellation fee.
- Partially used tickets -Refunds for partially used tickets are calculated based on the value of the unused segments, less any applicable fare difference and fees.
How to Submit a Refund Request
- Locate your booking -Have your booking reference or e-ticket number ready.
- Open the refund request form -Available on our website under Manage Booking, in the mobile app, or by phone during 24/7 operations.
- Provide the required details -Passenger name, reason for the request, any supporting documentation, and your preferred form of refund where eligible.
- Review and submit -You will receive a confirmation with a refund case reference.
- Track progress -Status updates are available in Manage Booking and via email.
Processing Timelines
- Credit card refunds -Typically issued within 7 business days and credited to the card by your bank within one additional billing cycle.
- Bank transfer refunds -Usually completed within 10 to 20 business days from approval.
- Cash-paid tickets -Refunded by bank transfer to an account in the name of the original purchaser.
- Travel agent bookings -Processed to the travel agent, who then returns funds to you in line with their terms.
Travel Credit as an Alternative
In some cases, you may prefer a travel credit instead of a cash refund, especially when the ticket is non-refundable but we can offer a flexible option. A travel credit is issued in the name of the original passenger, valid for 12 months from the original booking date, and can be used across any route we operate. Travel credits are non-transferable unless specifically stated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is my taxes and fees portion always refundable?
Government-imposed taxes and airport fees are refundable on unused sectors, even on non-refundable fares. The airline's own service fees may not be.
Q: My ticket was purchased with points. How is it refunded?
Points are returned to your loyalty account, and any taxes or fees paid with cash or card are refunded to the original payment method.
Q: I missed my flight. Can I still get a refund?
No-shows on non-refundable fares are typically not eligible for a cash refund. You may be able to retain the residual ticket value as a travel credit, subject to fare rules.
Q: Can I expedite a refund?
We process refunds in the order received. In cases of serious illness, bereavement, or documented emergency, contact us directly so we can review your case.
