Troubleshooting Common AV Issues
This guide covers the most common AV problems members encounter in WeWork meeting rooms and how to resolve them quickly.
Display Not Showing My Screen
- Check that the HDMI or USB-C cable is fully plugged in at both ends.
- On the display, press Input/Source and select the correct HDMI port.
- On your laptop:
- Mac: Go to System Preferences > Displays and click Detect Displays.
- Windows: Press Windows + P and select Duplicate or Extend.
- Try a different cable if available.
- Restart the display using the remote or power button.
No Sound from the Room Speakers
- Confirm the speakerphone is powered on (look for a status light).
- On your laptop, go to Sound Settings and set the speakerphone as the output device.
- Check the volume level on both the speakerphone and your laptop.
- If connected via Bluetooth, confirm the device is paired — the name is posted in the room.
- For USB-connected devices, try a different USB port on your laptop.
Echo or Feedback During a Call
- Mute your laptop's built-in microphone if you are using the room speakerphone.
- Lower the speaker volume slightly.
- Move the speakerphone to the centre of the table, away from walls.
Poor Video Quality on a Call
- Switch from WeWork to WeWork-5G Wi-Fi for a stronger signal.
- If possible, plug in to the wired Ethernet port in the room.
- Close background applications that may be consuming bandwidth (cloud sync, software updates).
- Lower your video quality setting in your conferencing platform temporarily.
Remote Control Is Missing or Not Working
- Check the credenza drawers in the room — remotes are often stored there.
- Replace batteries if the remote is unresponsive (AA or AAA, depending on model).
- Use the physical buttons on the display as an alternative.
Escalating an AV Issue
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, raise a ticket via the WeWork app under Help > IT Issue. Include the room name, building, and a brief description of the problem. For urgent issues during a meeting, speak to the community team at the front desk.
