Paracetamol Dosing โ€“ Adults and Children

Overview:
This article provides safe and general guidance on paracetamol (acetaminophen) use for adults and children. Always check with a pharmacist or GP if unsure, especially for infants or those with underlying conditions.


๐Ÿง‘‍⚕️ Adult Dosing (Age 16+)

  • Standard dose: 500mg to 1000mg every 4–6 hours as needed
  • Maximum dose: No more than 4000mg (4g) in 24 hours
  • Space doses at least 4 hours apart
  • Example: Two 500mg tablets up to 4 times per day

Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Overdose can cause liver damage.

10–11 years 32–36 kg 9.6 – 10.8 mL
11–12 years 36–41 kg 10.8 – 12.3 mL
Over 12 years 10 – 20 mL

Maximum daily limit: Do not exceed 80 mL in 24 hours.
