Quick Start Setting Up Your StarHub Fibre Broadband

Welcome to StarHub Fibre! This guide will help you get your ultra-fast broadband connection up and running in minutes. Let's get you connected!

What's in Your Installation Kit

  • Optical Network Router (ONR) - Connects to your fibre point
  • WiFi 6 Router - Your wireless gateway
  • Ethernet Cables - 2x yellow cables for connections
  • Power Adapters - For ONR and router
  • Quick Start Guide - Printed setup instructions

Pre-Installation Checklist

  1. Locate your fibre termination point (TP)
  2. Ensure power outlets are available near the TP
  3. Have your StarHub account details ready
  4. Clear space for router placement (elevated, central location)

Step-by-Step Installation

Step 1: Connect the ONR

  1. Locate the fibre termination point (white wall socket)
  2. Remove the protective cap from the fibre cable
  3. Gently insert the fibre cable into the ONR's PON port until it clicks
  4. Connect the power adapter to the ONR
  5. Wait for the PON light to turn solid green (2-5 minutes)

⚠️ Warning: Handle fibre cables with care. Do not bend, twist, or look directly into the cable ends.

Step 2: Connect Your WiFi Router

  1. Use the yellow ethernet cable to connect ONR's LAN1 port to router's WAN port
  2. Power on the WiFi router
  3. Wait for WiFi LED to turn solid green (2-3 minutes)
  4. The router will auto-configure with StarHub settings

Step 3: Connect Your Devices

WiFi Connection

  1. Look for the network name (SSID) on your router label
  2. Default SSID format: StarHub-XXXX or StarHub-XXXX-5G
  3. Enter the password printed on the router label
  4. Connect all your wireless devices

Wired Connection

  • Connect devices directly to router LAN ports (1-4)
  • No configuration needed - plug and play
  • Ideal for gaming consoles, smart TVs, desktop PCs

Router LED Status Guide

LED Light Status Meaning
Power Solid Green Router powered on and ready
Internet Solid Green Connected to internet
Internet Red No internet connection
WiFi Solid Green WiFi enabled and broadcasting
WiFi Blinking Data transmission in progress
LAN 1-4 Solid Green Device connected to port

Initial Configuration

Access Router Settings

  1. Connect to your StarHub WiFi network
  2. Open web browser and go to 192.168.1.1
  3. Login credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin (change immediately)

Recommended First-Time Settings

  • Change Admin Password: Security > Administration > Set strong password
  • Update WiFi Name: Wireless > Basic > Customize SSID
  • Set Strong WiFi Password: Wireless > Security > WPA3/WPA2
  • Enable Guest Network: Wireless > Guest Network > Enable
  • Update Firmware: Administration > Firmware Update > Check Now

Speed Test & Optimization

Test Your Connection

  1. Connect via ethernet for most accurate results
  2. Visit speedtest.starhub.com
  3. Click "Start Test"
  4. Compare results with your plan speed

Troubleshooting Setup Issues

No Internet Connection

  • Check all cable connections are secure
  • Ensure ONR PON light is solid green
  • Power cycle: Turn off ONR and router for 30 seconds
  • Verify your service activation date

Slow Speeds

  • Test with wired connection first
  • Check for interference (place router away from electronics)
  • Update device network drivers
  • Ensure no bandwidth-heavy downloads running
