Upgrading or Downgrading Your Plan
Your WeWork membership plan can be changed at any time, subject to availability at your location. This guide covers how to request a change, when it takes effect, and how billing is handled.
Plan Change Options
- Upgrade: Moving from Hot Desk to Dedicated Desk, or from a smaller office to a larger one.
- Downgrade: Reducing your office size or moving from Dedicated Desk to Hot Desk.
- Add-ons: Adding phone lines, extra desks, or storage to your current plan.
How to Request a Plan Change
- Open the WeWork app and go to Account > Membership.
- Tap Change Plan.
- Browse available options at your current location. Availability is shown in real time.
- Select your preferred plan and review the new pricing.
- Submit the request. You will receive a confirmation email with the effective date.
Alternatively, contact your Account Manager directly if you have one assigned.
When Changes Take Effect
| Change Type | Effective Date |
|---|---|
| Upgrade | As soon as the new space is available, often same day or next business day |
| Downgrade | First day of the next billing cycle |
| Add-on | Immediately upon confirmation |
Billing for Plan Changes
- Upgrades result in a prorated charge for the remainder of the current billing cycle added to your next invoice.
- Downgrades take effect at the next cycle — you will not receive a refund for the current month.
- Your new monthly rate applies from the effective date of the change.
Availability
Not all plan types are available at every location. If your preferred option is not available, you can join a waitlist through the app or ask your Account Manager to notify you when space opens up.
